Ex-Man United man installed as early favourite for Swansea post

| 28.12.2016

We’ve seen plenty of surprises in 2016, but this wasn’t one of them. After just 11 Premier League games, Swansea City have sacked Bob Bradley, with the side four points off safety and 19th in the league.

And it’s equally as unsurprising to see Ryan Giggs’ name at the head of the market for the vacant post at the Liberty Stadium.

The former Manchester United man had been linked with the position prior to Bradley’s appointment, with the Swansea board opting for an experienced boss over one with just four games under his belt as a manager.

And, with very little else to choose from, the Swans could well give it Giggsy ’til the end of the season.

Our traders certainly seem to think that’ll happen, with the Welshman being priced at just 4/6 to take over the reins.

Next up in the market is Wales boss Chris Coleman, although he’s some way off Giggs at 8/1.

It’ll be difficult to prise Coleman away from his current position in charge of the Wales national side though, especially given the Swans’ current position in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Giggs’ former teammates Roy Keane and Gary Neville are 40/1 and 50/1 respectively for the position.

Swansea need to act quickly if they’re to announce a new boss before their next game, which comes against Bournemouth on New Year’s Eve.

Should a new man be appointed by then, he’ll face a run of games that would certainly be considered winnable, with matches against Crystal Palace and Hull City following the clash with the Cherries, although the latter is an Emirates FA Cup tie.

He left United to go and get managerial experience, so could Swansea be about to offer him exactly that at the second time of asking? The odds certainly suggest that’ll be the case.

But what do supporters think? Would Giggs be the right appointment? Or can anyone keep this Swansea side up?
