Klaasen & Chisnall can make darts history tonight

This year’s PDC World Darts Championship is shaping up to be one of the most competitive we’ve seen for some time, and a whole host of players will be feeling confident they can lift the famous Sid Waddell trophy.
And while every year we seem to be guaranteed at least one major early upset, that certainly doesn’t look to be the case this time around.
In fact, eight of the Top 10 players in the Order of Merit have already taken to the oche, breezing through their opening matches 3-0.
World number 10, Jelle Klaasen, and world number seven, Dave Chisnall can make history tonight with a pair of whitewashes, as we’ve never seen such a dominant display from the highest ranked players at the Ally Pally.
So can it be done?
Well, the odds of both players winning 3-0 would suggest so.
Klaasen will be going up against fellow Dutchman, Jeffrey de Graaf, who’ll be making his PDC World Darts Championship debut after making the switch from BDO earlier this year.
And while the 26-year-old has shown he’s got plenty of potential, he’s up against a man on a mission in Klaasen.
The Cobra was knocked out in last year’s semis to eventual winner, Gary Anderson – losing 6-0 on the night. He’ll have a point to prove when he takes to the stage this evening, and that can only spell danger for De Graaf.
At 6/4, traders make a 3-0 win the most likely outcome tonight in this one – and there’s definitely some value to be had there.
And then there’s Chisnall, who’s already proven he can beat tonight’s opponent, Rowby John-Rodriguez, with relative ease, after whitewashing the 22-year-old at this stage last year.
Chizzy also heads into this one off the back of two consecutive opening round 3-0 victories at the Ally Pally. He’s 1/7 to beat the world number 41 tonight, while 5/4 says he does it in three straight sets.
So will Klaasen and Chisnall make history tonight? We’re offering 4.6/1 for the pair to both win 3-0.
