Ladbrokes Champ: What to expect from Dundee Utd v Hibernian

Published:

The top two face off in the Ladbrokes Championship on Saturday, as Neil Lennon’s attack-minded Hibernian face Ray McKinnon’s robust Dundee United. So, what can we expect from this battle of two impressive but vastly different sides?

Well, breaking down United at Tannadice will surely be the toughest task Hibs have faced this season.

Their hosts have conceded just twice in their last six Championship games, and you have to go back 11 games in all competitions to find the last time the Tangerines conceded more than a single goal in a game.

Hibs are also used to dominating possession, but United have enjoyed a minimum of 55 per cent possession in each of their last seven home games – meaning the visitors may struggle to adapt.

And the Edinburgh club’s record at Tannadice makes for fairly grim reading, with United posting four wins and two draws from the last half-dozen meetings on Tayside.

That’s not to say United will have it all their own way, though…

McKinnon’s men are up against a side packed with goal threats. Indeed, seven different players have scored for Hibs in their last five games, meaning United have far more to worry about than just keeping goal-machine Jason Cummings quiet.

Still, United look better priced for victory here at 15/8, with Hibernian 6/4 and the draw on at 11/5.

However, with the Cabbage having scored in each of their last five games, the best value of all looks to be on Dundee United to win and both teams to score at 9/2.
