Man United striker just 3/1 for shock January move to West Ham

It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that things haven’t exactly gone according to plan for West Ham so far this season. After missing out on a Champions League spot last year by just four points, they now find themselves just five points clear of the relegation zone after 17 matches this time out.

To put it simply, their main problem has been in the final third.

They’re the only side in the division yet to score three goals in any match, while 17 of their last 22 games in all competitions have seen Slaven Bilic’s men either fail to find the net, or score just one.

But with the winter transfer window now less than two weeks away, the Telegraph are reporting that the east London outfit are set to turn their attentions to two Manchester United youngsters to kick-start their campaign into life.

Bursting onto the scene at Old Trafford last season, Marcus Rashford has found first-team opportunities hard to come by under Jose Mourinho. The arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic has played a huge part in the 19-year-old’s development halt, but a move to the Hammers could be just what the England international needs.

It’ll provide him with plenty of game-time, as well as Premier League experience. And given that West Ham’s strikers this year have so far managed just two goals in 40 games combined, it’s likely Rashford would slot straight into Bilic’s starting XI.

At 3/1, we’re certainly not ruling out a January loan.

But it doesn’t stop there, with reports suggesting that Anthony Martial could be set for a temporary move to the London Stadium.

Like Rashford, Martial has struggled to hold down a regular first-team place, starting just seven league games this season.

In Mourinho’s defence, the 21-year-old hasn’t exactly made the most of the opportunities he’s had this year, scoring just one goal back in October. But much of that has been to do with the manager’s decision to play Martial on the left-side of a front three, rather than through the middle.

It doesn’t look like that’ll change any time soon, either, such as been the impact Ibrahimovic has made in that central role.

And that’s why the Frenchman should also consider a brief spell away from the Red Devils, with West Ham being a potential destination.

He’s 4/1 to make the move to London next month, and while it’s unlikely both players will leave Man United, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see one of them go.

What do fans think? Would a loan moth be beneficial for all parties, or would Mourinho be wrong to let either player leave?
