Wenger should snap up Eupen prodigy desperate for Arsenal move

| 23.12.2016

Transfer windows usually see managers across the Premier League trying to talk potential targets into joining their ranks. But AS Eupen star Henry Onyekuru has issued a come-and-get-me plea to Arsenal – and it’s one Arsene Wenger should take heed of.

Metro quoted the 19-year-old as saying “the shirt I dream of wearing is Arsenal’s”, while he also stated that he “would rather go to Arsenal” than join his compatriot Wilfred Ndidi, with the latter seemingly nailed-on for a move to Leicester City in January.

The Eupen ace has netted 10 goals in 22 games this season from the left wing, including goals against last season’s Pro League winners Club Brugge, in both league and cup.

Possessing bags of energy and the ability to produce an inch-perfect cross, he’s already one of the most eye-catching creative talents in Belgian football, having set up six goals in the top-flight already this term.

With Arsenal’s current first-choice left-winger Alex Iwobi scoring once and not setting up a single goal in his last 17 outings, a January swoop for Onyekuru looks like a sensible move indeed.

This would also be something of a risk-free transfer for the Gunners, with Transfermarkt.co.uk estimating the player’s market value at a very modest £1.28m.

Arsenal are next in action against West Bromwich Albion on Boxing Day, with 1/3 for the Gunners to return to winning ways after back-to-back losses.
