Arsenal v Burnley: Expect Clarets’ dreadful away form to continue

Published:

Nine games played, eight games lost, one game drew, three goals scored and 20 conceded. That’s how Burnley have fared away from home this season.

Not exactly the kind of form you want to be taking to the Emirates.

But that’s exactly what Sean Dyche will have to do this weekend, as he faces the impossible task of putting an end to this dreadful run on the road.

In truth, we can’t see anything other than a comfortable Arsenal win on Sunday.

But if you’re looking for better value than the 1/5 on offer for Arsene Wenger’s men to take all three points, Ladbrokes News have got you covered…

Scorpion King can sting again

It was a goal that’ll live long in our memories from a player who refuses to be forgotten.

But Olivier Giroud has done plenty more this season than score that ridiculous scorpion kick against Crystal Palace.

Despite not featuring in a starting line-up in the league until late December, the France international has an impressive seven league goals to his name.

Averaging a goal every 77 minutes this season, it’s his impact from the word ‘go’ which is remarkable. In the last three-and-a-half years, Giroud has opened the scoring on 27 occasions.

We’re putting our neck on the line here by saying if he plays, he scores.

Top Bet – Olivier Giroud to score first @ 11/4

Expect Gunners to be on fire in front of goal

Only Liverpool (49) have scored more than Arsenal (48) in the top-flight this season, with the Gunners having found the net in 28 of their 31 games in all competitions.

And they’ve netted three or more on eight occasions against sides currently in the bottom half of the table.

With Alexis Sanchez in frightening form, and Alex Iwobi continuing to impress in a front-three, we’re fancying plenty of goalmouth action for Burnley to contend with.

Providing the hosts are all on top of their game, there could be some cracking value in the handicap market.

Top Bet – Arsenal -3 @ 10/3

Cech may as well take a book with him

Three goals in 810 minutes of football on the road make Burnley’s travelling supporters arguably the most loyal in world football.

Of those nine games, supporters have seen their side register just 17 shots on target, 13 of which came in their opening five away fixtures.

Only Middlesbrough are averaging fewer shots per game (8.9) than Burnley (9.4). And in Petr Cech, they’re up against a goalkeeper who’s conceded just two goals in his last eight matches against newly promoted sides.

With seven clean sheets already to his name this season, we’re confident Cech will add another to that tally this weekend.

Top Bet – Arsenal to keep a clean sheet @ 8/11
