Celtic continue to flex their muscles with move for teenage talent

Brendan Rodgers - Celtic manager

They’re 19 points clear at the top of the Ladbrokes Premiership with a game in hand. They’ve scored a staggering 54 goals in 20 matches, and are well on course to make this their most successful domestic campaign of all-time.

But if you thought Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers was about to rest on his laurels, then think again.

Despite boasting by far and away the strongest side in the division, the former Liverpool boss is looking to further strengthen his squad in the winter transfer window with the acquisition of Kouassi Eboue.

But what do we know about the Hoops’ latest target?

It’s likely Celtic fans will be frantically scouring YouTube for any footage of their incoming man in action for his current side.

But unfortunately for supporters, compilation videos of Eboue are hard to come by.

Thought to be worth roughly £3.5m, the 19-year-old Cote d’Ivoire man will arrive at Parkhead with plenty of expectation on his shoulders.

After making his debut for FC Krasnodar back in May 2016, Eboue has since gone on to represent the Russian Premier League outfit on 18 occasions, with nine Europa League games under his belt.

Though he’s not known for his ability to find the net, he certainly has an eye for a killer pass, assisting two goals already in Europe.

Firmly establishing himself in the Krasnodar starting XI this season suggests that Eboue, despite his tender age, is more than capable of doing a job for the Hoops. So don’t be surprised if he’s thrown in at the deep end, he’ll certainly pounce at such an opportunity.

And while Celtic are far from lacking quality in the midfield department, they’d certainly welcome Eboue’s arrival.

The youngster will add pace, power and energy into an already hectic engine room.

Known to present opportunities to youngsters, Eboue would struggle to find a more suitable club in Europe for his development right now than Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic.
