Crystal Palace lead the charge for Norwich City’s Brady

Crystal Palace are closing in on the signing of Norwich City’s Robbie Brady, in a deal believed to reach around £9m.

The Republic of Ireland international has been linked with a Carrow Road exit for months, but it now appears that Palace are the frontrunners.

The news might also add weight to the claims that Andros Townsend is about to leave Selhurst Park, as we reported earlier this week.

Pre-season favourites for promotion, Norwich have failed to live up to expectation in the Championship this season, and the automatic promotion spots look out of reach for Alex Neil’s men.

And Brady could be on the hunt for new pastures having scored four times and set up as many assists this season, playing in either the left-wing or left-back position.

Norwich parted company with £7m to prise Brady away from Hull City in the summer of 2015, but the Irishman couldn’t stop the Canaries suffering relegation last season.

He shone for his country in the European Championship however, famously netting the winner against Italy, before scoring another against hosts France.

That led to numerous reports of a £15m move to a host of Premier League clubs, but no concrete bids ever emerged.

But now it seems the Canaries are to trouser a £2m profit on the winger, with a deal believed to have been agreed with Palace.

Eagles boss Sam Allardyce has been busy making changes to his squad this month, and has already signed Jeffrey Schlupp from Leicester for £12m.

And reports continue to suggest the Eagles are in advanced talks with Sunderland’s Patrick van Aanholt and Arsenal’s Carl Jenkinson.
