NFL Conference Championship: Back perfect Patriots start (& more)

| 21.01.2017

We’re down to the final four in the NFL, as the Green Bay Packers head to Atlanta Falcons and the New England Patriots host the Pittsburgh Steelers.

So, ahead of a huge double-header on Sunday, here are the four bets the Ladbrokes News team are getting behind.

Back the Pack to rack up the points

The Falcons may have edged this fixture by a single point during the Packers’ mid-season wobble, but this is a fixture Cheeseheads have frequently enjoyed in recent years – with four of the last five meetings ending with wins for Mike McCarthy’s men.

Green Bay are also in fine form, having won each of their last eight – and scoring over 30 points in each of the last six games. In fact, they’ve scored big throughout the season, even putting 32 points past Atlanta during that narrow October defeat. So backing the men from Wisconsin to keep hitting good numbers looks a safe bet.

Best Bet: Green Bay Packers total points: Over 27.5 @ 10/11

Patriots to find the perfect start

It’s fair to say that New England have tended to get the first word in this season, with the Pats getting the first score in 14 of their 17 games so far. But while they look a safe bet to repeat that feat at 4/6, there could be even better value elsewhere.

Nine of their games this season have seen a Patriots’ Touch Down open the scoring, including each of their last two fixtures. So we reckon there’s plenty of value in getting on Bill Belichick’s side to make the first score a TD.

Best Bet: First Score of Game: New England Patriots Touchdown @ 6/4

Blount to inspire home victory

After six seasons of solid but unspectacular performances, Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount has been unbelievable in the 2016 NFL Season, with 18 TD’s in 16 games, amassing an incredible 1,161 yards (and counting) so far.

That means he looks well-priced to score a Touchdown anytime even at a shade of odds-on, but it’s the wincast involving the 30-year-old which looks like a really smart bet.

He’s made it over the line in 13 of his 16 appearances so far, and the Pats have won every single time he’s done so this season. Back him to lead them to victory once again.

Best Bet: LeGarrette Blount to score a TD and New England to win @ 5/4

Back Pats and Packers to do battle

Having seen the above selections, it won’t surprise you to know who we’ve gone for to contest the Super Bowl. Yep, we’re going for New England and Green Bay, at the sizeable price of 29/10.

The Foxboro-based franchise are virtually unstoppable at home, while the Pack are enjoying the best run of any side in NFL right now. So getting odds of a shade under 3/1 for this pair to meet in Houston next month looks like great value.

Best Bet: Super Bowl Finalists: New England Patriots/Green Bay @ 29/10
