Diego Costa odds-on to leave Chelsea – despite new deal

Published:

Diego Costa is still set to leave Chelsea this summer – new contract or not.

Though reports suggest the Spaniard is about to agree a new mega-bucks deal, we make it an 8/11 chance that Costa moves on this summer.

And it’s just 2/1 that the 28-year-old striker makes the switch to China in the off-season.

Costa and Chelsea boss Antonio Conte fell out in spectacular fashion last month, after a row in training.

It’s believed that the spat was caused by a huge offer for Costa from the Chinese Super League, and Conte dropped his star forward in the win over Leicester City.

Now back in the team, things appear harmonious again in west London.

But even if Costa sticks around this summer, we make it an unlikely 20/1 that the former Atletico Madrid hitman plays out his entire career with the Blues.

And 100/1 says he becomes the Pensioners’ record goalscorer.

A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: “Costa may be about to put pen to paper on a new deal, but our odds say the Spaniard will be moving on this summer, regardless.”

What is all but certain however, is that wherever Costa does move to this summer, he will do so as a reigning Premier League champion, with Chelsea 1/7 favourites to win this season’s title.
