Everton 5/2 favourites to secure signature of Palermo’s star man

With speculation continuing over Romelu Lukaku’s potential Goodison Park exit this summer, the signs suggest Ronald Koeman could have the ideal contingency plan in place for Everton, with the Toffees now favourites to sign Palermo striker Ilija Nestorovski.

The Rosanero are having a miserable time this season, with financial issues and a fourth manager of the campaign (yes, you read that right) currently in charge. But the 26-year-old has been their shining light.

Nestorovski has currently netted nine goals and assisted three in Serie A, meaning he’s directly contributed to 57 per cent of the club’s 21 league goals this term.

And despite the Macedonian only joining the club in August – following 71 goals in 96 games for Croatian side Inter Zapresic – he looks set to move on as soon as the summer.

Everton are 5/2 favourites to be his next club, with Koeman enjoying the financial backing of the Toffees’ hierarchy, and an exit for Lukaku in the near future looking likely. It’s also reported that the Premier League is the Macedonian’s preferred destination.

However, the Merseyside outfit could face stiff competition from Atletico Madrid, who are 3/1 to secure his signature, while Serie A pair AC Milan and Napoli are 8s apiece to snap him up.

A trio of English outsiders close out the market, with Liverpool and Arsenal both 16/1 for Nestorovski’s signature, while Tottenham are out at 20s – meaning Everton are by far the most likely Prem option.

Next up for Everton is the visit of Sunderland on Saturday, with 2/5 for the Toffees to enjoy victory at Goodison Park.
