Hearts v Rangers: Visitors can take the lead in pair’s head-to-head

| 01.02.2017

The scores are level in this season’s head-to-head battle between Heart of Midlothian and Rangers but it’s the Glasgow side that can edge ahead following their latest visit to Edinburgh.

Hearts ran out convincing 2-0 winners back in November before Mark Warburton’s side evened things up when winning by the same scoreline less than two weeks later.

And with the momentum now firmly in the Gers’ favour this particular Ladbrokes Premiership contest only looks like going one way.

Jam Tarts boss Ian Cathro has won just two of his eight games in charge, with one of those victories a 4-2 extra-time Scottish Cup win over Championship side Raith Rovers.

And with his side’s latest visitors losing just two of their last 16 league games, winning 10 of those, the omens don’t look good for an uplift in fortunes.

Our odds-compilers are certainly in agreement with The Light Blues 7/5 favourites to take all three points. Hearts are 7/4 while the draw is available at 12/5.

However, it’s not all doom and gloom for the Jambos. The hosts are unbeaten in their last three at home to Rangers with the away side not picking up a win at Tynecastle since 2012.

Nine-goal man Jamie Walker is a 13/2 shot to score first with partner in crime Bjorn Johnsen 9/5 to net at any time and lift Cathro’s charges.

For Warrbuton’s outfit, top scorer Kenny Miller is 13/8 to score anytime with his team 7/2 to win to nil.

Rangers kept just one clean sheet in their opening seven top-flight games. But since then they’ve recorded seven shutouts in their following 15 clashes, including that clean sheet when these teams last met.
