The tug-of-war between football clubs and international nations is set to rumble on this week, with Everton and Manchester City the latest to be hit hard.
While the Citizens have seen Kevin de Bruyne pick up a groin injury with Belgium, things are much worse for the Toffees.
Neil Taylor’s shocking challenge on Seamus Coleman on Friday night is set to see the popular right-back out of action for at least six months.
It’s a huge blow to Ronald Koeman’s men, with the Irishman missing just 27 minutes of Everton’s last 27 Premier League fixtures.
Coleman’s absence also punts a major dent in the Toffees’ hopes of bagging a top-six spot this term.
And Pep Guardiola is unlikely to be too happy about seeing De Bruyne return to Manchester with a knock.
The Citizens’ next two league fixtures see them visit both Arsenal and Chelsea, and with the battle for the top-four so tight, they’ll need the Belgian to be fully fit.
But with England, Scotland and Northern Ireland still to play tonight, the problems may get worse and Premier League bosses will be keeping a keen eye on this evening’s proceedings.
