Kris Marshall returns to Doctor Who favouritism after string of bets

Published:

The market for the Next Doctor Who has been a busy one in recent weeks, and the latest twist is that Kris Marshall is the latest favourite.

A series of large bets this morning have seen our traders cut the odds on the former My Family star from 5/1 into 4/5.

Indeed over a third of all stakes have been on Marshall to succeed Peter Capaldi as the next Time Lord.

Olivia Colman was the immediate favourite when the market opened, but the Broadchurch star has now slipped to 6/1.

Colman is now third in the betting, behind Tilda Swinton.

The Beach Actress had been favourite in recent weeks, but her 7/2 odds have now drifted to 5/1 following the Marshall activity.

With plenty of hints and suggestions that the new Doctor may well be female, Colman and Swinton have been joined at the sharp end of the market by Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

The Iron Lady actress has been the market’s biggest mover, with 31-year-old Londoner tumbling from 33/1 into 8s.

Maxine Peake has consistently featured among the frontrunners, and the Silk star is still in the mix at 10/1.

She sits alongside James Bond actor Ben Whishaw, although his price has remained stable at 10s for the duration.
