Peter Houston named Ladbrokes Championship Manager of the Month

Falkirk manager Peter Houston has won the Ladbrokes Championship Manager of the Month award for February.

The 58-year-old guided the Bairns to an eight-point haul over four games last month, as they rose up the Championship table, with Falkirk now occupying second spot following victory at Queen of the South on Saturday.

They began February with a comfortable 2-0 defeat of Dunfermline Athletic, becoming the only team to keep a clean sheet against the Pars in all competitions since mid-November.

That was followed by a 3-0 rout of Dundee United, with the Bairns’ gaffer’s current side leaving his former employers stunned, thanks to goals from the in-form John Baird, Aaron Muirhead and James Craigen.

Falkirk then made it to the end of the month without defeat – giving them a league-highest points haul in February – following a pair of 2-2 draws against promotion hopefuls Greenock Morton, and an improving Dumbarton side.

Next up for the high-scoring Bairns is a visit to Ayr United on Saturday. Win that, and they could find themselves just three points behind Hibernian – meaning the current 25/1 for Falkirk to win the Championship could prove a very savvy bet.
