Premier League Darts: Wright to shine in our 22/1 Week Five acca

Published:

The PDC Premier League is in full flight and Week Five sees the eight arrowsmiths head north of the border to Glasgow.  With a bouncing crowd expected at the SSE Hydro arena, we’ve put together a tempting 22/1 five-fold.

Can Phil Taylor maintain his spot at the top of the table in his farewell tour? Or will Adrian Lewis find that winning touch?

Peter Wright landed his first televised ranking tournament last weekend, and after a staggering performance last time out, Snakebite will have a patriotic crowd behind him when he takes on James Wade.

There’s a heavyweight clash between 180 behemoths Dave Chisnall and Gary Anderson, while we’ll also learn just how Michael van Gerwen gets on after missing last week through injury.

So, let’s get down to it…

Adrian Lewis v Phil Taylor – Lewis Win or Draw Double Chance

Lewis may have been handed a 7-2 pasting last week by Wright, but that was due to Snakebite’s sensational form than Jackpot himself.

Ordinarily Lewis’ 109 average would have romped to victory, and it was the second highest average of the tournament so far.

Taylor sits top, but the Power isn’t exactly swatting opponents aside, while Jackpot sits a lowly eighth and needs to pick up wins ASAP.

Plus, the Lewis has a higher average, a higher checkout success and more 180s than Taylor, so we fancy him to get something here in the night’s opening contest.

Peter Wright v James Wade – Wright to win

You just can’t stop Peter Wright right now, and Snakebite arrives in his homeland on the back of his first televised ranking success at the weekend.

Plus, the Scot’s 119 average in victory over Lewis last week was simply sensational  – it was the second highest in televised darts history.

On a wave of confidence – and in front of his fellow Scots – Wright looks good value to see off James Wade.

The Machine hasn’t been fully functioning so far, and though he sits in the play-offs right now, boasts the second lowest average and the second worst checkout percentage.

Dave Chisnall v Gary Anderson – Over 7.5 180s

Sit back and watch the treble 20 bed get hit time and time again, as Chisnall and Anderson clash.

The duo have posted the most 180s in the tournament, with Chisnall averaging 3.8 and Anderson hitting 4.2.

With the pair likely to spur each other on too, we’re confident the over 7.5 maximums will be dealt with here.

Kim Huybrechts v Michael van Gerwen – Huybrechts + 3.5 legs

Belgium’s Kim Huybrechts is holding up well in his second Premier League campaign, but all the focus will be on how Michael van Gerwen shapes up after missing last week’s fixtures.

Mighty Mike has been receiving intensive treatment for a back injury, but don’t be surprised if he takes it a touch easy in this derby of the lowlands.

Backing MvG’s opponents +3.5 would have come in three times already in this Premier League campaign, so add in the injury factor and this should be a success.

Jelle Klassen v Raymond van Barneveld – Klassen Win or Draw Double Chance

Poor old Jelle Klassen has had a nightmare start, having to face Wright, Anderson and Van Gerwen in the opening three weeks. But now the Cobra is picking up form.

Unbeaten in his last two – including a great win over Chisnall – the Cobra should be confident heading into this Dutch derby with Raymond van Barneveld.

Barney has lost two his last three, and though he’s posting the third-best average, a checkout percentage of just 30 per cent is continuing to hurt him.
