Hull City lead Liverpool and Chelsea in race for Fenerbahce man

Published:

Fenerbahce defender Simon Kjaer has drawn interest from a host of Premier League heavyweights in recent transfer windows, including Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham. But it seems they could all be beaten to the punch by…Hull City.

Yep, you heard us.

It’s been widely reported today that Tigers staff have flown to Turkey to enter talks for the Danish defender’s signature. And with none of their Premier League rivals currently acting with such decisiveness, it seems Hull could be set to get their man.

The East Yorkshire club are just 5/4 to sign the Fener ace, with manager Marco Silva keen to bolster the Premier League’s second-leakiest defence.

And with a reported price tag of £8.5m, the Tigers are unlikely to balk at the potential fee.

However, they could face stiff competition from Liverpool. It’s 7/4 for the Horsens native to head to Anfield, with Jurgen Klopp no stranger to the centre-back, who spent three years on the books of Wolfsburg.

Chelsea are third in the running at 7/1, with Antonio Conte’s men followed by a quartet of Prem outsiders – Everton, Tottenham, West Brom (all 12/1) and West Ham United (14/1).

Next up for Hull City is a trip to St Mary’s, with 9/2 for Silva’s men to take all three points against Southampton.

Doing so could all-but-secure their Premier League status, and see our traders further cut the odds of Kjaer wearing black and amber next season.
