Man United Evens in race to sign Barca star but Chelsea also keen

| 12.04.2017

It’s hard to call a winner ahead of Manchester United’s clash with Chelsea at Old Trafford this Sunday.

But it seems there’s a clear favourite when it comes to the battle to sign Jordi Alba – with the Red Devils now just Evens to sign the Barcelona ace.

The 28-year-old has impressed again for the Catalan outfit this term, but has found himself benched by boss Luis Enrique in a number of big games.

Those omissions have included the last two Champions League games – against Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus respectively – and with a spot in the starting XI no longer guaranteed, the view from our traders is that the Spaniard looks set for a move.

Man United are firmly in pole position at Evens for his signature, with numerous sources reporting that the former Valencia man has been speaking to members of the Red Devils squad during the past few days.

And a move to Old Trafford would enable Alba to reunite with former Mestalla teammate Juan Mata.

Jose Mourinho’s men are followed in the betting by one of his former clubs, Chelsea, at 5/2.

Next up are Arsenal at 4/1, while there’s 7s on offer for the L’Hospitalet native to make the hugely controversial switch to Real Madrid.

Manchester City are 8/1 to beat fierce rivals United to Alba’s signature, while Tottenham round out the English interest at 10s to be Alba’s next club.

As for the more immediate battle…Man United are 13/8 to beat Chelsea, with the Blues 7/4 for victory and 21/10 on offer for a share of the spoils.
