Giroud odds-on for Arsenal stay – but French duo remain keen

He provided a vital role in Arsenal’s stunning Emirates FA Cup Final win, but has Olivier Giroud played his last game for the Gunners?

The striker set-up Aaron Ramsey for Arsenal’s winner over Chelsea on Saturday, but according to French outlet L’Equipe, Giroud wants assurances from Arsene Wenger.

Giroud made only 11 starts in the Premier League last term, and it’s believed he may move on unless he can be assured of a greater role at the club.

The final blow may have come on Saturday, when Wenger chose Danny Welbeck to start up front at Wembley.

Since joining the Gunners in 2012, Giroud has scored 98 goals in 226 appearances, winning three FA Cups while becoming a firm fan favourite in North London.

But with a World Cup on the horizon next year, Giroud will be out to ensure he makes France’s squad in Russia.

Our traders make the forward 1/3 to stay, but a move to Lyon or Marseille isn’t being ruled out.

The former are a particularly intriguing angle, with the club set to require a replacement for Alexandre Lacazette, who is all-but certain to quit Lyon this summer.

The seven-time Ligue 1 champions are 9/2 in the betting.

But Marseille are set to spend big this summer as they bid to return to title-winning contention.

Giroud is no stranger to southern France either, having netted 39 goals in 85 appearances for Montpellier prior to his Arsenal move.

It’s 11/2 the 30-year-old is plying his trade at the Stade Velodrome next term.

Monaco are an 8/1 shot to land the France international, with Atletico Madrid and former club Montpellier the outsiders at 16/1 and 50/1 respectively.
