Birmimgham City fans will have been delighted with the news that Harry Redknapp is staying on for another year at St Andrew’s. But more good news could soon be coming their way, as Blues edge nearer to completing a deal for Robbie Keane.

It’s likely Redknapp will be making a few calls over the coming months to a whole host of players he’s previously signed, and the latest odds are suggesting he’s already done exactly that with Keane.

Reports this morning suggested the former Republic of Ireland international is a major target of Redknapp’s as he looks to get the West Midlands outfit back in the Premier League.

And despite our traders last week making it a 10/1 shot that Keane signed for Birmingham, rumoured interest has seen those odds tumble into just even-money.

That makes Keane the most likely ex-Redknapp player to make a move to St Andrew’s this summer.

The 36-year-old striker recently called time on his five year spell with MLS outfit LA Galaxy, where he netted a staggering 89 goals in 138 league appearances.

And while plenty will have assumed that was the end for Keane, the latest odds are suggesting there’s still life in the old dog yet.

But what do fans think? Would he be a welcome addition?

A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: “Keane is no stranger to the Midlands, while ‘Arry is certainly no stranger to a reunion. We’re putting two and two together and saying there’s a good chance Blues fans will be seeing the former Spurs man lining up for them next season.”
