Leeds United head betting to reunite with ex-Elland Road ace
Published:Leeds United fans may have endured a frustrating end to the season with a play-off spot eventually eluding them, but there soon be news to lift their spirits, with the Whites clear favourites to re-sign former club favourite Jonny Howson.
The Morley-born midfielder left Leeds for Norwich City in 2012 having come through the club’s youth set-up before playing 219 games, chalking up 27 goals and 22 assists along the way.
But now he’s 6/4 to make Elland Road his next port of call, while 7/4 says he reunites with his boyhood club this summer.
And having managed a modest 61 goals in the Championship this term, there’s little doubt the Whites could do with some added creative flair – especially having been over-reliant on Chris Wood to do the work in front of goal.
However, they could face competition from Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday. The Owls are 4/1 to snap up the 28-year-old, and with the midfielder’s asking price believed to be around £4m, there’s little doubt he’d be out of their budget.
Newly-promoted Newcastle United (5/1) and Swansea City (6/1) follow them in the betting, and a move to the Swans could prove tempting, with Howson’s former Canaries teammates Martin Olsson and Leroy Fer among their ranks.
Meanwhile, the betting is rounded out by Aston Villa at 7/1 and 10/1 shots Hull City.
