Murray joint-fourth in French Open betting; Konta 25/1 for glory

  1. 1976. That was the last time a Brit managed glory in the Singles at the French Open. But Andy Murray and Johanna Konta will be hoping to end the 41-year wait at Roland Garros.

The Scot is joint-fourth favourite at 11/1, and while he hasn’t won this tournament before, Murray does look generously priced, having reached the Final in 2016, winning the first set against Novak Djokovic before eventually being edged out.

Meanwhile, in the Women’s Singles, British hopes are on the shoulders of Johanna Konta.

The 26-year-old has enjoyed a strong start to the year, reaching the last eight at the Australian Open, before beating world number 12 Caroline Wozniaki to win the Miami Open last month.

Our traders currently make the Sydney-born ace 25/1 for glory at Roland Garros.

Elsewhere, the Brits are represented by a talented (very) long-shot in the Men’s singles.

Alzaj Bedene produced a strong display to beat American Ryan Harrison in four sets, and while winning the competition at 200/1 is almost certainly beyond him, there’s no reason he can’t continue to impress.

He faces the towering Jiri Vesely on Tuesday morning, with 4/6 for Bedene to secure victory – and head into the last 32 of the competition.
