Through Irish Eyes: Backing Bray in both halves features in treble

Galway United have been classed as tough to beat in recent weeks and never more so than last week when they ended Cork City’s successive winning run with a 1-1 draw at Eamon Deacy Park.
Despite having only lost once in their last eight league games they sit second from bottom, level on points with this week’s opponents, Finn Harps. The ‘relegation six pointer’ cliché is entirely appropriate here.
Harps fans will be starting to feel a bit uneasy, partially because they are in free-falling form and have failed to score in any of their last six matches in all competitions.
And partially because manager Ollie Horgan’s instructions “Work! Work! Work!” were picked up loud and clear on the television coverage, but seemingly fell to deaf ears on the pitch as Harps were trashed 3-0 by Bray Wanderers.
I fancy a Galway win but the 20/23 price is a bit short for a team with only one league win so far this season.
Limerick finally got around to appointing their new boss this week. Neil McDonald, who most recently was assistant to Mike Phelan at Hull, and has served several spells at different clubs under the charge of ‘Big Sam’ Allardyce, who was himself at one point manager of Limerick FC.
The new manager boost could well be a factor this week in their clash with Dundalk, with several players likely trying to impress a man of McDonald’s pedigree.
Dundalk got back to winning ways in a 4-0 win where they completely outclassed Sligo Rovers.
Jamie McGrath was the hat-trick hero on the day, benefitting from some well worked, patient, passing moves on the edge of their opponent’s box which they have struggled to do in recent games.
I would summarise Limerick so far this season as a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde team in results and in their hideous defensive and enjoyable attacking play.
Dundalk to win and Both Teams to Score @ 13/5 looks good value. But I’m not convinced just yet that Dundalk are over their recent tribulations.
Stephen Kenny’s men are also still a work in progress at the back.
Bohemians’ listless defeat at home in the latest Dublin derby to Shamrock Rovers makes the final selection an easy one.
Dinny Corcoran was kept quiet and Bohemians lacked creativity anywhere else on the pitch. The home crowd were not impressed at all and the air of frustration was palpable as the Shamrock Rovers fans out-sang the home fans right throughout the game.
Bray Wanderers, on the other hand, offer an attacking threat from anywhere on the pitch and have been quick off the mark in recent games.
While Bray & Over 2.5 Goals looks a bit big at 17/5, my final selection is on Bray to get the job done in both halves.
