Everton closing in on deal for Malaga hotshot Sandro

Everton look to be nearing the completion of their first summer signing, with reports claiming Malaga ace Sandro has flown in to Liverpool for talks.

Toffees boss Ronald Koeman has been keen on the 21-year-old for some time.

Sandro enjoyed a breakthrough campaign last time out, netting 14 goals from 30 La Liga appearances.

That included a run of seven goals in the final nine games of the season, and the forward scored versus Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Sevilla last term too.

And with a £5.2m release clause, Everton look to have landed themselves a bargain.

Sandro came through the youth ranks at Barcelona, making 30 appearances for the senior side alongside Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar.

But sensing that first-team opportunities would remain limited in the years to come, moved to Malaga last summer on a free transfer.

That decision has certainly paid dividends, with the Las Palmas-born hotshot showing everyone what he is capable of last season.

Everton have been linked with a move for months, but faced competition from Atletico Madrid.

However, with the Spanish outfit now hamstrung with a transfer ban, the Toffees are in pole position.

But the Goodison Park faithful needn’t fear, as it’s believed Sandro is seen as an addition to the squad – not as a replacement for Romelu Lukaku.

The Belgian remains an Evertonian for now, despite claiming he has reached an agreement with a club for next season.

Everton are also reportedly closing in on Ajax skipper Davy Klaasen, who netted 14 goals and supplied 10 assists in last season’s Eredivise.
