Former Celtic star 11/10 to join Aberdeen; Hibs 11/4 for midfielder

Having spent nine years in the Celtic first-team over the course of two stints, Shaun Maloney is a familiar face for fans of Ladbrokes Premiership clubs. And now it seems he could be set to return to Scottish football…but with Aberdeen.

Dons boss Derek McInnes has made the 34-year-old his top target for the window, and there’s 11/10 on offer for Maloney to make Pittodrie his new home this summer.

Having struggled for a regular spot in the Hull City side last term – starting just five games – it’s likely the Scotland international will hitch a ride out of East Yorkshire this summer, as opposed to signing a new contract.

But while Aberdeen are clear favourites to be his next club, they’re far from the only outfit interested.

Hibernian are 11/4 shots to snap up the Tigers midfielder, and with manager Neil Lennon at the helm, the Cabbage could have an ace up their sleeve when it comes to tempting Maloney.

The veteran played alongside Lennon for more than six years at Parkhead, and then spent a season under the Northern Irishman when the latter returned as boss in 2010.

However, a return to Celtic themselves looks unlikely, with 12/1 on offer for the playmaker to join the club for a third stint.

Still, they’re likely to face him next term, with our odds-crunchers deeming it unlikely for Maloney to remain in English football.

Sheffield United (10/1) are his most likely suitors south of the border, with former employers Wigan Athletic (16/1) the only other EFL outfit in the betting.
