Odds suggest Hazard’s injury is actually great news for Chelsea fans

The news that one of your best players has suffered a broken ankle is usually pretty awful.

But in Chelsea’s case, it may not be that bad.

Eden Hazard is set to miss the start of next season after breaking his ankle while on international duty with Belgium.

The injury came shortly after the forward revealed he would listen to an offer from Real Madrid, should it ever occur.

And those comments could have sent Chelsea fans into a meltdown.

Especially as we were 8/11 earlier this year that Hazard would join the Bernabeu outfit.

But now those odds have drifted right out to 3/1, and the Stamford Bridge faithful will be able to sleep a little easier.

The Belgian could be out until mid-September, and according to the odds, his injury has put the brakes on a move to Spain.

Valued at £59.5m by transfermarkt.co.uk, Hazard enjoyed a sterling campaign last time out, notching 16 Premier League goals as Chelsea romped to the title.

The 26-year-old has now netted 72 times for the Londoners from 248 appearances since joining from Lille in 2012.

In that time Hazard has won two Premier League titles, the League Cup and UEFA Europa League.
