Hamilton odds-on to maintain title momentum in Hungary

| 24.07.2017

The 2017 Formula One season enters its second half this weekend, when Hungary hosts round 11 of the championship.

It’s been a remarkable year so far, and just one point separates Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton at the top of the standings.

Though Hamilton sits second, the Brit holds the momentum and heads to Budapest as odds-on favourite.

The three-time champion was in a class of his own last time out at Silverstone, roaring to a dominant victory on home soil.

He’s been the man to beat since Canada, with only mechanical issues denying him victory in Austria and Azerbaijan.

And the Mercedes ace has a phenomenal record in Hungary, with a record five victories.

So despite leading the title race, it’s Vettel who is the man under pressure.

The German hasn’t won since Monaco in May, and has claimed just one podium finish from the last four races.

So that explains why we’re putting Hamilton as 10/11 favourite to win this Sunday, with Vettel the 3/1 fancy.

The Ferrari pilot may also have to contend with the other Mercedes of Valtteri Bottas, who has quietly become the outside punt for the championship.

He could well be a factor in Hungary, with the Finn 4/1 to bag his third win of the campaign.

Red Bull will be hoping to go well this weekend too though. The Hungaroring circuit should suit the RB13, and Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen are 10/1 apiece to deny the championship protagonists.
