ITV Racing tips: Debutante’s Ball to sprint to glory at Newbury

| 21.07.2017

After last week’s Super Saturday action, the racing slows slightly this weekend with seven races across three meetings live on ITV.

We’ve got the Wetherby’s Super Sprint to look forward to, as well as the Stevenson Stakes, Hackwood Stakes and the Aphrodite Stakes at Newmarket.

So, without further ado, check out our best tips ahead of the renewals..

NAP – Debutante’s Ball – Newbury 15:35

Absolutely everyone and their dog is going to be on Maggie’s Angel in this renewal and it’s hard to argue otherwise given her pedigree, but we’re going a different route.

Stan Moore’s Debutante’s Ball looks a standout price at 9/1.

The two-year-old won well on debut at Chepstow and, despite an iffy showing at Royal Ascot last month, ran brilliantly in a group 3 over in France recently. We’re on!

NB – Magical Memory – Newbury 15:00

This Group 3 renewal looks like it could be a close one but we’re playing it safe with antepost favourite, Magical Memory at 11/4.

This Charles Hills-trained 5 year-old has been in iffy form of late but a drop back down in class here should suit him.

Frankie Dettori, who has ridden this horse many times, is back on board adding that extra layer of confidence.

Lively Longshot – Earthmoves – 15:20 Market Rasen

There’s nothing we love more than our Lively Longshot bet – not exactly a shot in the dark, but an educated dart in the wind.

We’re plumping for Paul Nicholl’s seven-year-old Earthmoves here at a juicy 12/1.

With two wins from his last two rides at Ffos Las and here at Market Rasen, he’s in good form and when you consider the Bowen’s yard’s own form in this renewal, we’ll give it a good punt.

ITV Racing Tips:

13:50 Newbury – Remarkable

14:10 Market Rasen – Ebony Express

14:25 Newbury – Best Of Days

14:40 Newmarket – Apphia

15:00 Newbury – Magical Memory

15:20 Market Rasen – Earthmoves

15:35 Newbury – Debutante’s Ball
