Vettel now odds-on for fifth title following Hamilton blip

Sebastian Vettel is now the odds-on favourite to win this year’s F1 Drivers’ Championship after gaining more ground in the title race.

The Ferrari driver finished second in last weekend’s Austrian Grand Prix, two places in front of main rival Lewis Hamilton.

That result means Hamilton now lies 20 points behind the German ace and our odds-compilers make the British superstar an even-money shot to claim a fourth world crown.

Vettel is 10/11 to win a fifth championship, therefore leapfrogging Hamilton in the market following their spin in Spielberg.

Meanwhile, Red Bull Ring winner Valtteri Bottas is a 16/1 shot to reign in the leading duo and claim top honours.

Bottas is 15 points behind team-mate Hamilton and therefore trails the man at the summit by 35 points.

There’s an obvious gaping chasm between the top three in the market and the rest with Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo 300/1 and Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen a 500/1 outsider.

We’re into four-figure odds from there on in with Max Verstappen available at an eye-watering 1000/1.

Silverstone is the next destination on the F1 calendar with Hamilton just 10/11 to win a fourth British Grand Prix in a row, and fifth overall, on home soil.

Vettel is 9/4 to crash the patriotic party with Finn Bottas 7/2 to take the chequered flag.
