Everton star Wayne Rooney now odds-on to make next England squad

| 22.08.2017

Former England captain Wayne Rooney looks set for a return to the national team, according to the latest odds.

The Three Lions’ all-time leading goalscorer has been in fine form since returning to boyhood club Everton.

And we now go just 1/4 for Rooney to be in Gareth Southgate’s squad for the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers against Malta and Slovakia.

Two goals in two Premier League games have put the ex-Manchester United man firmly back on the map and we now reckon he could be on the plane to Russia as well.

From as long as 5/1 earlier this year, it’s now just 10/11 that Rooney makes England’s World Cup squad next summer.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Rooney is continuing to prove he’s far from finished and he looks set to be rewarded for his recent form with another chance on the international stage.”
