ITV Racing Tips: Battaash looks beatable on Glorious Goodwood day four

| 04.08.2017

It’s been a superb Glorious Goodwood for the bookmakers so far this year with the majority of the big favourites losing out in the feature races.

With the likes of Big Orange, Limato and Ribchester already beaten, can Battaash turn it around for the jollies and win the King George Stakes on Friday?

As ever, we’ll attempt to guide you through the minefield and pick a couple of decent winners amongst the rubble..

NAP – Frontiersman – 13:50, Glorious Goodwood

We really like the look of Charlie Appleby’s Frontiersman at 11/4 as our NAP in the opener on day four of Glorious Goodwood.

The Godolphin-owned four-year-old has been in good form for the last few months with a win and two second-placed finishes in his last three races.

The latter pair came against high-calibre opponents in Hawkbill and Highland Reel so a drop back to a Group Three here will suit.

NB – Take Cover – 15:35, Glorious Goodwood

After being burned a few times, the thought of backing another low-priced favourite in Battash makes us queasy, frankly, so we’re going to avoid here.

As classy as Charlie Hills’ three-year-old is, we’re going to take it on and back Take Cover at 9/1 instead.

Having already won this race twice in three years – as well as a second place finish in 2015 – David Griffith’s ten-year-old clearly has a penchant for the King George.

Lively Longshot – Zhui Feng – 15:00, Glorious Goodwood

This renewal of the Betfred Mile looks a tough one to pick from but we’re going with Amanda Perrett’s Zhui Feng to cause a bit of an upset.

At 9/1, we like the look of the four-year-old to do the business having won well at Royal Ascot back in June.

Martin Dwyer is back on-board for this one and has waxed lyrical about his qualities. Staying at this same distance this time out will suit too so an e/w punt on him is worth a pound of anyone’s money.

ITV Racing Tips:

13 Glorious Goodwood – Frontiersman

14:25 Glorious Goodwood – Solomon’s Bay

15:00 Glorious Goodwood – Zhui Feng

15:35 Glorious Goodwood – Take Cover
