Liverpool leapfrog Arsenal in queue to sign Julian Draxler
Published:If Liverpool fans were anxious about the prospect of losing Philippe Coutinho, their worries may be about to be quenched with the rumoured signing of Julian Draxler.
The Paris Saint-German midfielder-cum-forward looks like he’s on his way to Anfield with our traders cutting his odds on a move to Merseyside into 2/1.
Arsenal had been favourites for the PSG man’s signature but Jurgen Klopp’s side have leapfrogged the Gunners – who are now 3/1 shots – in the last 24 hours.
It looks more and more likely Jurgen Klopp is about to lose his star but a potential move for Draxler will quickly appease any grumbles.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Liverpool fans won’t want to see Coutinho leave this summer, but the arrival of Draxler would certainly go some way towards cushioning the blow – and at 2/1, there’s every chance of a deal being done in the coming weeks.”
The former Schalke star has impressed at the Parc Des Princes with a number of impressive performances since joining in January.
The gargantuan-money signing of Neymar means his time in Paris could be short-lived, though.
However, a move to Anfield could suit the German international, particularly working with a coach he knows well from his time in the Bundesliga.
