Man City v Everton: Toffees overpriced for success at the Etihad

Wayne Rooney

Having won their first four games of this season without conceding a goal, it’s a real surprise to see Everton priced up at 13/5 to take a point or more from Manchester City on Monday night. And that’s just one of many value markets on the visitors.

The Toffees have lost just once in their last five meetings with the Citizens, winning two of them. Their most recent visit to the Etihad ended in a 1-1 draw, while the pair’s January 2017 meeting ended with a 4-0 victory for Ronald Koeman’s men.

With that in mind, the 13/5 Double Chance on Everton or Draw looks very generous, while the +2 Everton handicap at 19/20 looks like a banker considering their recent defensive strength.

Still, we do think both sides will probably find the net in this one, with each having scored in their last six outings. There’s 21/20 about Both Teams to Score, while it’s 6/4 that we see Over 3.5 Goals from this pair for the third time in four meetings.

So, we’re tipping up goals. But who’ll deliver the goods?

Wayne Rooney certainly looks well-priced to do so. With 11 career goals against City to his name, the Toffees’ prodigal son is 14/5 to add to that tally on Monday night, having already netted Everton’s winner against Stoke City on the Premier League’s opening weekend.

For the hosts, it’s hard to overlook the prolific Sergio Aguero. The Argentine has grabbed four goals in the club’s last three competitive games. However, we’re swerving the 8/13 for him to score anytime in favour of a Last Goalscorer bet at 14/5.

In the match betting, Man City are 2/7 for victory, with 10/1 for an Everton win and an appealing 17/4 for honours-even.
