Netherlands Women v England Women: Lionesses favourites to reach final

Published:

England are back in action tonight, as they look to secure a place in the final of the European Championships for the second time in ten years.

The Lionesses have been ruthless throughout the tournament and are favourites to see off the Netherlands this evening.

We have England at 7/5 to progress in 90 minutes while the Netherlands are available at an inflated 9/4.

However the draw after 90 minutes makes most appeal at 15/8, given how tight the latter rounds of tournament competition tend to be.

The Netherlands are a tricky side and have only conceded one goal in the competition so far.

Along with England they are the only team remaining in the tournament with a 100% record.

We’re expecting another tight game and under 1.5 goals is priced enticingly at 29/20.

If that’s not your bag then maybe the 9/1 on offer for England to win 2-1 is.

Why? Well the last time the Lionesses made it through to the final of the Euros was in 2009 – when they beat the Dutch 2-1 in the semis.

Unlike eight years ago however, tonight the ladies will have to do without their first choice goalkeeper after Karen Bardsley broke her leg in the quarter-final defeat of France.

Likely replacement Siobhan Chamberlain is an ample deputy and the 42-cap stopper is 11/8 to keep a clean sheet.

Up the other end Jodie Taylor has been in scintillating form so far.

The Arsenal ace is the top scorer in the tournament with five goals and needs just one more to equal the Euros record.

We’ve got Taylor as a 9/5 shot to score anytime and enter the record books against the Dutch.

If you fancy doubling up and having the Birkenhead-born forward to score and England to win, we’ve got it available at 3/1.

At slightly longer odds Chelsea’s Millie Bright has looked a danger from set-pieces and looks a value punt at 11s to score first.

In terms of tournament betting Mark Sampson’s side have been installed as favourites to walk away with the trophy.

Following the exit of Spain and Germany we’ve priced up our ladies at 6/5 to win the tournament outright.
