Best bets for Tuesday’s Carabao Cup games

| 23.10.2017

There are only 16 teams left in the Carabao Cup. And 12 teams will be playing for a place in the quarter-finals on Tuesday night.

There are five clashes between a Premier League and Championship side. And one tie between two top-flight teams.

Here are our top tips for the evening’s action:

Arsenal v Norwich City

Arsenal will field a rotated side but are still 1/4 at home against the Canaries.

Olivier Giroud is likely to start up front for the Gunners. The France international is 14/5 as First Goalscorer.

Arsene Wenger doesn’t have as much depth at the back. He could field some youngsters in defence and at wing-back. Our traders have Arsenal to win and Both Teams to Score at 27/20.

Bournemouth v Middlesbrough

Bournemouth picked up a vital win against Stoke City last weekend. The Cherries are 8/11 to get another victory against Boro.

However, Eddie Howe could prioritise the league over a potential cup run as a result. That means there could be value in backing Middlesbrough in the Double Chance market at 11/10.

One player who’ll be desperate to impress is Jermain Defoe. The veteran hasn’t featured as much as he’d like since joining Bournemouth in the summer. He’s 6/5 to score Anytime.

Bristol City v Crystal Palace

Bristol City are narrow 8/5 favourites to claim a Premier League scalp against Crystal Palace.

The Robins are unbeaten at Ashton Gate this season. Lee Johnson has revealed he plans to play his strongest side here. Palace boss Roy Hodgson may rest his big guns ahead of the weekend’s league action.

With that in mind, Bristol City to win and Under 3.5 Goals looks a good call at 5/2.

Leicester City v Leeds United

Leicester began life after Craig Shakespeare with a fairly comfortable 2-1 win against Swansea City. Now they’re odds-on at 1/2 to beat Leeds and reach the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.

Leeds ended their own run of bad form with a 3-0 win over Bristol. They’re the third-highest scorers in the second tier with 21 goals. We like Leicester to win and Both Teams to Score at 21/10 here.

This game could be a good opportunity for Kelechi Iheanacho to get his first Leicester goal too. The £25m signing is 23/20 to score Anytime.

Swansea City v Manchester United

Manchester United are 4/9 to respond to their shock defeat to Huddersfield Town with a win away to Swansea.

The Swans have only won one game and scored four goals at home all season. United are 13/10 to Win to Nil.

Even if Jose Mourinho rests several regulars, he’ll still be able to call on plenty of firepower. 27/20 for Manchester United to win and Over 2.5 Goals looks tempting.

Manchester City v Wolves

The Premier League leaders and the Championship leaders meet at the Etihad Stadium. It could be a fascinating contest. But City have looked so good recently that our traders can’t see beyond a home win at 1/9.

Pep Guardiola’s side are the top scorers and have the joint-meanest defence in the top flight. It’s even-money for City to Win to Nil.

Bernardo Silva is in line for a rare start for the home side. The summer signing is 23/20 to score Anytime.
