Liverpool’s Danny Ings could be on his way to Leeds in January

Leeds United have reportedly enquired about the availability of Liverpool forward Danny Ings.

The 25-year-old has struggled with injuries since his move to Anfield in the summer of 2015.

Having been out with a knee injury for 11 months, Ings returned to first-team action in the 2-0 Carabao Cup defeat to Leicester City.

However, the England international hasn’t featured since and looks way down the pecking order in terms of Jurgen Klopp’s attacking options.

But Elland Road might just be the perfect destination for Ings to recapture his form. After a stunning start to the season, Leeds have stuttered in recent weeks.

Back-to-back defeats to Cardiff City and Sheffield Wednesday have derailed their campaign slightly. The Whites have managed just one goal on the road in their last three away fixtures.

Overall, Chris Wood’s exit hasn’t damaged the attack too badly considering they’ve managed 18 league goals so far.

However, the goals have been shared throughout the team with no one player taking on the ‘goal-getter’ mantle.

Ings scored 21 goals in 40 Championship games for Burnley during their promotion campaign of 2013-14.

He also managed 11 goals for the Clarets the following season in the Prem.

That sort of prolific record is just what Leeds are looking for to spearhead their Premier League push.

If the move does come off, it will all boil down to whether Ings has overcome his injury troubles sufficiently enough.

If he can recapture the form that saw him included in England squads, Leeds will have a super striker on their hands.
