November could make or break Bournemouth’s season

It’s been a difficult start to the season for Bournemouth. And the Cherries will have to be patient in their quest for points.

From their eight games so far, Eddie Howe’s men have collected just one win and a solitary draw.

But in that time they’ve already had to play Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

Throw in away trips to West Bromwich Albion and Everton, and it has been a pretty rough start.

The rest of October won’t be easy either. Bournemouth go to Stoke City next weekend before ending the month at home to Chelsea.

It’s conceivable they won’t win either of those games.

That would leave Bournemouth firmly in the relegation zone after 10 matches. But in November they can make up for that and kick-start their season.

The fixture list finally gives Howe’s men a chance to gain some momentum, and more importantly, collect some points.

It starts with a trip to Newcastle United. The Magpies have been solid upon their Premier League return, but on paper Bournemouth’s squad lacks nothing to the Geordie side.

Then Huddersfield Town head to Dorset. The Terriers have lost their way of late following a bright start to life in the top tier.

The Yorkshire side must play Liverpool and Manchester United before they head to Dean Court which could further hinder morale and momentum for their visit to Bournemouth.

Then the Cherries head to Swansea. Again there’s nothing to split the sides when it comes down to quality in the squad. The Swans are struggling for goals this season too.

A home game with Burnley rounds out the month. The Clarets have been excellent on the road this season, collecting a win and two draws at Chelsea, Tottenham and Liverpool.

But once again there’s nothing for Bournemouth to fear.

So these are four games which could make or break the Cherries’ campaign.

It’s perfectly within reason that Howe’s men can collect eight or more points in this spell.

That could give them a crucial boost for the start of December, when they’ll play struggling duo Southampton and Crystal Palace in successive games.

And then the Cherries may well be sitting comfortably in mid-table.

But should their struggles continue over the next two months – with six winnable matches on the horizon – then things could become very bleak indeed.

Following that clash with Palace on December 9^th, Bournemouth will spend the build-up to Christmas with successive games against Man United, Liverpool and Man City.
