Wham! favourites to land this year’s Christmas number one

Christmas number one odds

Wham! are the overwhelming favourites to win the coveted number-one spot in the charts this Christmas, according to our odds.

With less than two months to go, their festive classic Last Christmas is now 4/6 to top the charts on Christmas Day.

Their biggest competition could come from Ed Sheeran. Our traders have him at 3/1 to be number one on December 25th.

The eventual winner of this year’s X Factor is 6/1, with Adele at 8/1.

Rapper Stormzy is 25/1. His fan campaign to get the Christmas number one in 2015 saw his independently-released single Shut Up rise to number eight.

Last Christmas has never topped the charts before. It peaked at number two in 1985.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “It’s been a year since we last put this market up, but it doesn’t surprise us to see Wham! heading the Christmas number one betting. It may be early days, but it’s theirs to give away.”

“Gone are the days where the X Factor winner was someone to rely on in this market, as it’s looking increasingly likely that the festive top spot will be heading elsewhere.”
