Australia now 1/5 to win the Ashes after First Test win

| 27.11.2017

Australia are now 1/5 to win this winter’s Ashes after a comfortable First Test victory in Brisbane.

The Baggy Greens needed just over an hour on the final day to chase down England’s 170-run target.

It was a comfortable performance in the end from Steve Smith’s side.

England skipper Joe Root will surely feel his team let chances slip away at the Gabba after a solid first innings.

A dismal second turn with the bat did for the tourists though, as England mustered just 195 second time around.

It was nowhere near enough to challenge the Aussies, who wrapped up the first Test with much of the final day still to spare.

Attention now turns to the second Test at Adelaide, a day-nighter which begins on Saturday.

We’re 8/13 on the hosts taking a 2-0 lead, with England 11/4 to level the Series. A draw is 4/1.

Former England captain Alistair Cook has work to do.

The Essex batsman totalled just nine runs at the Gabba. Our traders go 4/1 he makes up for that by being his side’s top runscorer in the first innings.

Ashes rookie Mark Stoneman will be pretty pleased with his own efforts of a 53 and a 27. The 30-year-old is 9/2 to top score for England in their opening innings.
