Brighton, Leicester and Liverpool stars who could get an England call

| 13.11.2017

Gareth Southgate made it clear against Germany that he is prepared to put his faith in youth.

The England manager started Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Tammy Abraham, and Jordan Pickford against the Germans and gave further chances to Joe Gomez and Jack Cork off the bench.

And with Lewis Cook, Dominic Solanke and Angus Gunn all called into the squad over the weekend that got us wondering.

Who else could Southgate call-up in the near future?

We did some investigating to find out…

Solly March

Solly March has lit up the Premier League with Brighton & Hove Albion this season.

Although limited to substitute appearances in recent weeks, the 23-year-old has shown plenty of promise for Chris Hughton’s side.

He’s tricky, has a fantastic end product and crucial for Southgate is willing to learn. After involvement with the Under-20 and Under-21 teams over the past few years, you can be sure that March is on the England manager’s radar.

Demarai Gray

Since joining Leicester City from Birmingham City in 2013, Demarai Gray has not stopped knocking on the manager’s door.

Finally, under Claude Puel, the 21-year-old looks like getting a sustained run in the team.

Gray has been one of the Foxes’ best players this season and ran the show in their 2-0 defeat of Everton before the international break.

Any more performances like that from the youngster and Southgate will have to sit up and take notice.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Liverpool seem to have a knack for bringing through and signing quality full-backs.

With Joe Gomez already in the squad, Trent Alexander-Arnold may not be far behind.

The 19-year-old has made eight appearances for the Reds so far this season and has shone under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp.

He’s an old head on young shoulders and provides England with cover at full-back should they need it.

Lewis Dunk

As part of a Brighton defence that has only conceded 11 goals so far this season, Lewis Dunk has been singled out for praise by Jamie Carragher.

And we agree with the ex-Liverpool man – Dunk has been superb.

So much so that we’re actually surprised he wasn’t given the nod at the weekend.

He’s a towering presence at the back, mopping up loose balls like your granddad does eggy soldiers.

At 25-years-old, he’s still young and will likely be knocking on Southgate’s door sooner rather than later.

All Odds and Markets are correct as of the date of publishing.
