Here’s what Chelsea need to do in the January window

| 24.12.2017

The January transfer window can often shape a side’s season.

Especially so for clubs fighting on multiple fronts.

The Ladbrokes News Team are looking at all 20 Premier League teams.

On this occasion, the focus is on Chelsea.

What they need

The Blues could do with bringing in a replacement for 32-year-old Gary Cahill.

More attacking options could also prove vital if they’re to challenge on domestic and European fronts.

Who they’re targeting

Boss Antonio Conte is one of several Prem managers rumoured to have his eye on Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha.

A move to a huge club without leaving London could prove tough for the Eagles ace to resist.

The West London club have also been linked with Juventus’ versatile left-sided man Alex Sandro.

Who could leave

Arsenal and Newcastle United are both reportedly keen on a move for centre-back David Luiz.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid look to be stepping up their pursuit of Eden Hazard. The bigger question seems to be not if he’s going to Spain, but when. January, or the Summer?

Final thought

Chelsea haven’t quite clicked like last season’s title-winning crop, but they could make a few smart acquisitions in January.

Hold onto Hazard for the time being, and silverware could soon be theirs come the end of May.
