Here’s what Leicester need to do in the January window

The January transfer window is almost upon us.

Some clubs will only make minor changes to keep things on track. Others will be looking for drastic changes to turn their season around.

We’re taking a look at what all 20 Premier League sides could be after in the January sales.

And Leicester City are next up…

What they need

Leicester have looked much better since Claude Puel replaced Craig Shakespeare in charge.

Unless there’s a major departure, the squad looks in decent shape. Portugal international Adrien Silva is finally available for selection in the New Year too.

They’ll still be on the lookout for any quality players available though.

Who they’re targeting

Steven N’Zonzi looks likely to return to the Premier League. The Sevilla midfielder’s power and ability on the ball would immediately improve the Foxes squad.

Bristol City’s Bobby Reid was heavily linked with Leicester recently. He’s hit double figures in the Championship this term. His contract is up next summer, which means he could be a bargain.

Who they might lose

Riyad Mahrez didn’t get the move he wanted in the summer. That could change in January. His form’s picked up under Puel, attracting attention from Roma, Arsenal and Tottenham.

Mahrez’s Algeria teammate Islam Slimani could also be headed for the exit. He’s fallen down the pecking order. Newcastle United could swoop to bolster their attack.

Final thoughts

Leicester were in the relegation zone under Shakespeare earlier this season. Now they look much stronger with Puel in charge. If they continue as they have been, they could push for a Europa League spot.
