A trio of clubs could be about to move for Newcastle United winger Rolando Aarons in January.

Leeds United, Aston Villa and Huddersfield Town are all thought to be interested in securing the 20-year-old’s services on loan when the transfer window reopens.

Aarons made his debut for the Magpies in 2014 but has since struggled to nail down a first-team spot in the North-East.

In the past three seasons, the Jamaican winger has featured just 16 times in league competition for the Toon, largely due to injury.

That lack of game time has alerted a number of clubs, although it’s Leeds and Villa who currently head the queue.

Whites boss Thomas Christiansen is eager to add more width to his side and the enigmatic Aarons could fit the bill.

He’s a tricky player with bags of pace who would suit a team like Leeds who like to play on the front foot.

If the Elland Road side can offload Mateusz Klich and Pawel Cibicki early in the window, then a move for the 5ft 9in ace could be on.

However, they’ll face competition from Aston Villa.

Steve Bruce’s side are the lowest scorers in the top-eight of the Championship.

Despite sitting fifth in the table, the Villains are only thirteenth when it comes to shots per game, according to www.whoscored.com.

Aarons’ creative flair would help the Midlands side create more in front of goal.

And with Villa good at developing young players, Villa Park could be an attractive destination for both player and his parent club.

Huddersfield Town and Crystal Palace are also thought to be interested, though Newcastle would likely be unwilling to help out a fellow relegation rival.
