Saturday’s fixture between Inter Milan and Juventus could represent a changing of the guard in Italian football.

Juve may have won the last six Serie A titles, but their rivals are starting to smell blood.

La Vecchia Signora have been significantly weaker since the loss of Leonardo Bonucci and Dani Alves in the summer.

And for a resurgent Inter, that spells opportunity.

I Nerazzurri have endured a series of nomadic finishes since they last won the league in 2010.

But following significant investment from China, one of the greats of Italian football have their sights set on a return to the glory days.

For a start, they have a squad packed with talent.

Long-term star Mauro Icardi is Serie A’s top goalscorer with 16 goals from 15 games this season.

That form has courted the attention of Real Madrid, although Inter will be hopeful of keeping hold of their key man.

He’s aided by a midfield that includes former Manchester United target Ivan Perisic, ex-Fiorentina star Borja Valero and exciting Atalanta prodigy Roberto Gagliardini.

However, the jewel in the crown for Luciano Spalletti is his side’s impeccable defensive record.

Inter have conceded a joint-low of 10 goals in the league so far this season.

That represents a marked improvement on last season’s record of 21 conceded at the same stage in the campaign.

It also shows how Spalletti has built a balanced side. Inter are managing to perform well in tandem at both ends of the pitch, a characteristic they’ve struggled with in the past.

Another striker would be a welcome addition in January to ease the burden on Icardi, but aside from that, La Beneamata look to be in a fantastic position to mount a serious title bid this season.

However, a real test of their credentials will come on Saturday evening when they travel to Juve.

Internazionale are rated as a 19/5 chance to talk all three points, with Juventus the favourites at 7/10. You can back the draw at 13/5.

If the visitors are to claim victory at the Allianz Stadium, the performance of Icardi will be key.

The Argentine has stepped up to the plate already in big games this season and is 9/2 to break the deadlock.

For the hosts, Paulo Dybala looks the most likely scorer at odds of even-money in the Anytime market.

In what should be a fiery affair (both fixtures in Serie A last season saw red cards), we’re also expecting goals.

It’s 5/6 for Both Teams to Score and 8/1 if you like the look of Inter to Win and Both Teams to Score.
