West Ham United v Chelsea: More Christmas woe for hosts v Hazard and co

Eden Hazard - Chelsea

The weekend’s Premier League action gets underway in East London as West Ham United host Chelsea.

This isn’t a very good time to be a Hammers supporter. They’re second from bottom in the Premier League, and are in the middle of a dismal three-game spell.

Having lost valiantly to Manchester City last time out, David Moyes faces Antonio Conte’s reigning champions this weekend before facing his old club Manchester United next week.

The odds suggest this will be another difficult afternoon for the Irons.

Chelsea are the 1/2 favourites, with the draw 16/5 and a home win the heavy outsider at 6/1.

West Ham did put up a fight versus City a week ago, but Pep Guardiola’s men were far below their best.

Conte’s Chelsea though, have been playing some excellent football of late.

Eden Hazard has been at the forefront of the Blues’ good form. The Belgian has netted five goals and provided two assists in his last seven Premier League games.

Those stats don’t do justice to how well Hazard has been playing. The fact that Chelsea have won six and drawn one of those seven fixtures is no coincidence.

The forward is 7/2 to net first, and a handy 13/10 anytime. Alvaro Morata is a likely beneficiary of Hazard’s good work, and is 3/1 favourite to bag the opener.

Moyes has plenty of work to do to save this Hammers squad. They escaped a mauling versus City but could again be in trouble this Saturday.

Chelsea -1 is sure to be popular at 13/10, while they’re even more appealing at 17/5 to win by -2 for the third time this season.
