Manchester City could be about to add another Brazilian to their ranks, according to the latest odds.

After missing out on Alexis Sanchez, the Citizens have been cut from 10/1 to 6/1 to sign Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred.

Pep Guardiola is said to be a fan of the defensive midfielder who shone against City in the Champions League earlier this season.

He featured in both matches against the runaway Premier League leaders and played the full-90 minutes as the Sky Blues suffered a first defeat of the season at the Metalist Stadium.

His impressive performances have also brought a recall to the Brazil national squad after two years on the sidelines.

Should the 24-year-old ace make the move to the Etihad, he would become the fifth Brazilian player contracted by the Sky Blues.

Following a run of bets on Fred making the switch, a move now looks likely.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “Fred ticks a lot of boxes, and it’s not hard to see why punters think he could be a defensive midfielder for the Citizens.”
