ITV Racing Tips: Yala Enki could master Sandown at big odds

It’s another bumper weekend of racing with action from both the UK and Ireland.

Leopardstown, in particular, has a major couple of days on with the Dublin Racing Festival stretching over Saturday and Sunday.

However, there are some decent renewals to look forward to at Sandown. And the ITV cameras will be there to capture the events as they unfold.

Here are our best tips for the races ahead…

NAP – Terrefort – 2:25, Sandown

There was disappointing news regarding this renewal of the Scilly Isles Novices’ Chase earlier.

Fountains Windfall was due to run but connections decided to withdraw and concentrate him on efforts elsewhere.

That was unfortunate as a duel between Anthony Honeyball’s hugely-talented charge and Terrefort was highly anticipated. However, that leaves the latter as heavy favourite for this Grade 1 chase.

And Nicky Henderson’s five-year-old should be far too good for the rest of what is a small field.

This will be his second run since switching to Henderson’s yard last month after winning well at Huntingdon. Cyrname will be a danger but he should win well here.

NB – Melrose Boy – 3:00, Sandown

Staying at Sandown, we’ve a strong fancy for Melrose Boy in the Heroes Handicap Chase.

Harry Fry’s charge is the current market favourite and probably justifiably so. Heavy going is expected again and the six-year-old seems to enjoy that sort of ground.

He won by 50L at Fontwell last time out in heavy conditions. And was victorious back in November at Cheltenham in similar conditions.

It’s a competitive field with Topofthegame and Golan Fortune lurking behind in the betting but Melrose Boy should take all the beating here.

Lively Longshot – Yala Enki – 3:35, Sandown

We finish off our trio of feature tips at – you guessed it – Sandown, and the Masters Handicap Chase.

Now here we have a high-quality field lined up with Final Nudge heading the betting and Sametegal slightly lower down.

However, in the middle of the back, it’s Yala Enki at enticing odds that catches our eye. Venetia William’s eight-year-old is proven at the course and distance and will definitely enjoy the cut in the ground.

He was a good fourth in the recent Peter Marsh Chase at Haydock and has run well in Listed and Graded company this season. He’s definitely worth a Lively Longshot pop.
