Super Sunday: Man United and Liverpool to stroll to away wins?

Manchester United odds

There’s a cracking bill of Super Sunday action from the Premier League with two of the current top-four teams involved.

Manchester United travel north to face Newcastle United, while Liverpool head south to take on Southampton.

Can these two Champions League-chasing sides roll over their lesser top-flight opponents? The Ladbrokes News crew take a closer look.

Newcastle v Man United

Jose Mourinho’s side got back on track against Huddersfield Town with a 2-0 win at Old Trafford last weekend.

The Red Devils are 8/13 favourites, with Newcastle at 9/2, and the draw at 27/10.

These are the sort of games Mourinho laps up. He’ll keep it tight at the back and pick off the lesser lights with relative ease.

Fortunately for United, Newcastle are relatively blunt up front. Like a club version of Shane Long, Rafa Benitez’s side find it difficult to score goals.

Can we trust Newcastle to find the net and see both teams score? Probably not. They’ve managed just 11 goals at home in 13 league games.

They drew a blank against both Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City at home. So Both Teams To Score – No at 4/5 looks decent.

Man United to win to nil at 8/5 also looks a value pick. On the goalscorers’ front, Alexis Sanchez got off the mark in the previous game against Huddersfield.

Like a terrier let loose in a large open park, the Chilean will enjoy the space afforded to him by the big St. James’ Park pitch.

Sanchez is 7/5 to score Anytime and 7/2 to open the scoring – we like both of those a lot.

Southampton v Liverpool

If Man United do slip up beforehand, Liverpool will have the chance to close the gap between them to just two points.

The Reds are 3/4 to get the win, with Southampton at 13/4, and the draw at 14/5.

Jurgen Klopp’s side really should win here, but, like a shady door-to-door salesman, sometimes it’s difficult to trust them.

On the road, their defence still resembles a cheap sieve. The Liverpool backline have conceded 22 goals in 13 away games – only four sides have conceded more.

Southampton are in okay form and have scored in each of their last five league games. Both teams have found the net in those clashes and that’s our first selection here.

Both Teams To Score is 6/10. However, Liverpool are still the third-best away side in the division with seven wins from 13 games on the road.

Liverpool to win and Over 2.5 Goals at 6/4 looks a nice bet. Mohamed Salah is in terrific form and added two to his tally in the draw with Spurs.

The Egyptian star managed a brace in the 3-0 win over Mauricio Pellegrino’s side earlier in the season. Salah is 11/10 to score Anytime and 7/2 to be First Goalscorer.
