Premier League recap: Chelsea blues, Swans strolling, Arsenal implode – again

Another weekend, another set of Premier League results that puts the cat among the pigeons.

Liverpool, for the time being, have usurped Manchester United as the second-best team in the country.

Meanwhile, Swansea City bagged a huge win over West Ham United to climb to 13th. We round-up some of the biggest stories of another thrilling weekend of Prem action.

What’s going on at Chelsea?

A goal down with twenty minutes left of their game with Manchester City, Chelsea were walking. Not running, walking. As City’s players passed it amongst themselves like it was a practice game.

Have the Blues players downed tools on their boss, Antonio Conte? It’s an accusation that has been thrown at them in the past. And it looks like it could be happening again.

There’s been friction all season between Conte, the players, and the board. Chelsea are in a serious battle for Champions League football next season.

Arsenal crumble against Seagulls

A reported players’ intervention was supposed to give Arsenal a kick up the backside the team so badly needed.

A reaction was expected against Brighton and Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium. But it was just more of the same as the Gunners went 2-0 down inside the first 30 minutes.

There was a brief fight back, but, ultimately, it ended in another defeat. It leaves Arsene Wenger’s outfit closer in points to Stoke City in 19th than Liverpool in 2nd.

Will the Frenchman see out the season in charge?

Swansea looked doomed to Premier League relegation before Carlos Carvalhal’s appointment as boss.

However, the former Sheffield Wednesday manager has made a tremendous impact at the Liberty Stadium. The Swans swotted West Ham aside 4-1 to jump to 13th in the table.

They remain just three points ahead of the drop-zone, but, importantly, the players look like they’re fighting for their manager.

Over the last eight games, the Welsh outfit are fifth in the form table. Keep that up, and they’ll stay up.

Hughton one of the most underrated managers?

When it comes to managers who deserve a shot at bigger jobs, Chris Hughton should be top of the list.

The Brighton manager needs just six more points to practically guarantee Brighton’s safety.

It will be a remarkable achievement for the manager of a club who were one of the relegation favourites at the start of the season.

The former Newcastle head coach has done a sterling job. And he does so with an admirable approach. Honest, earnest, and intelligent – Hughton is a real role model for younger coaches.
