PL Darts Tips: Cross to edge Smith and a 7/1 Oche Acca in week 10

| 12.04.2018

A tumultuous Judgement Night saw Mensur Suljovic and Gerwyn Price eliminated from the Premier League in their debut seasons.

Now the competition moves on to Sheffield, with Finals Night careering into view.

Michael van Gerwen remains top of the pile. Can Michael Smith or Rob Cross catch the runaway leader? They face off tonight.

Elsewhere, Raymond van Barneveld will look to recover from a 7-0 trouncing last week, while Peter Wright faces two matches as he attempts to kick-on from his Judgement Night reprieve.

We’ve got all of tonight’s action covered and come up with a 7/1 Oche Acca…

Daryl Gurney to beat Raymond van Barneveld

Barney was reduced to rubble last week after a 7-0 demolition job by Michael Smith. Things aren’t likely to get any easier against the in-form Daryl Gurney.

The Northern Irishman shared the spoils with Peter Wright in Liverpool to take his unbeaten run to five matches.

He drew 6-6 with Raymond van Barneveld in the first week of competition but has since moved a level above the Dutchman.

Superchin now tops the 180 table with 42 maximums to his name, as well as clocking up a mightily impressive 97.40 average.

Gurney is 6/5 to claim the points, with 8/1 available that he batters Barney 7-4. We go 8/11 that there’s Over 6.5 180s in the match.

Gary Anderson to beat Peter Wright

Wright narrowly avoided elimination from the Premier League last week. But that doesn’t excuse the Scotsman’s horror run of form.

Snakebite hasn’t won since week two and will likely find things tough once more against the impressive Gary Anderson.

Ando lost out 5-7 to Rob Cross last week but boasts a superior checkout percentage, tournament average and 180 record to Wright.

He’s 4/5 to inflict a seventh defeat in nine matches on his countryman. It’s 3/1 that the Flying Scotsman ends King of the Oche and 5/6 that he hits the Most 180s in the match.

Michael van Gerwen to beat Simon Whitlock

When these two met in Leeds, MVG prevailed with a 100.17 average and a 7-4 victory.

It’s likely to be a similar scenario this evening.

Van Gerwen has not dropped a single point since defeat in week two, while Simon Whitlock could only muster an 81.94 average in victory over Price last week.

The Dutch Destroyer has been the master of the 7-2 scoreline this season. He’s won four of his games by that margin. He’s 9/2 to do so again in Sheffield.

You can back him at 11/8 to be King of the Oche and 6/4 to land a First Leg 180.

Rob Cross to beat Michael Smith

Cross and Smith both look set for a spot at Finals Night next month.

So we’re expecting a humdinger of a contest here between two of the Premier League’s young stars.

Voltage won the reverse meeting in Leeds 7-5. He’s 5/1 to repeat the feat on Thursday night.

He’s 4/5 outright too – and with good reason. Though two points worse off than Bully Boy, Cross has a 47% checkout percentage and the fourth-highest tournament average.

His consistency in his maiden season has been second to none. He’s also won his last five matches against the St Helens-native, who is 12/5.

However, Smith does tend to start matches well. It’s 11/10 that he wins the first leg.

Raymond van Barneveld v Peter Wright – Draw

You’ll get a feel for which way this one will go based on the pair’s performances earlier in the night.

But with two of their last four meetings in the Premier League ending in draws, we know which way we’re swaying.

It’s 10/3 for the match to finish in a 6-6 stalemate.

Neither player has been at their best in recent weeks, although Wright did mark a return to some sort of form with an emotional draw against Gurney seven days ago.

We go 11/10 for there to be Under 5.5 180s in the match.

Our Acca Oche this week is Gurney, Anderson, Cross and van Gerwen all to win at 7/1!
